Choose an optional copper reservoir with a tap or install a hot water jacket. The installed water jacket can boil a 40-gallon water tank in an hour with the stove running at full operation. Many owners choose to run this system on a thermosyphon, eliminating the need for electricity. Wood heat can be very dry but the water reservoir provides ample humidity. Use it do all the dishes. Note: Refer to water jacket manual and have it installed by a professional.

Even before the wood ignites, air that will reach the firebrick compartment is being pre-heated. Hot air is fed down to the main flame where a simple, yet ingenious system called a progressive cross-draft, directs more air to the fire if the temperature in the room drops. Wood at the top can dry and settle to the heart of your Ardent Energy system.

By actually feeding itself, your fire burns slowly and evenly with just the right amount of air it needs.

By not having the bother of constantly feeding and caring for your fire, you may wonder if you are increasing the amount of creosote and waste that escapes. (To a serious wood burner, that's like throwing money away!)

For this reason Ardent Energy heaters have the main escape route to the chimney closed during normal burning. Wood smoke is forced downward over hot coals and into a secondary combustion chamber. Add jets of super-heated air through tiny holes and remaining gases have even more heat squeezed out and saved for your comfort.
